PRIZES

  • GALLERY ONE SMALLACOMBE SELF PORTRAIT PRIZE, provided by David Smallacombe – value $20,000
  • M & M CARBINS YOUTH PRIZE for Youth -15 to under 25, provided by M & M Carbins Trust – value $2,000
  • GALLERY ONE PAMELA OBORN HANGER’S CHOICE PRIZE named in honour of Gallery One founder, provided by Gallery One – value $500
  • GALLERY ONE CHAIR’S CHOICE donated by David Milne – value $250

AN ENTRY IS ONLY ELIGIBLE TO WIN ONE OF THE PRIZES. THE MAJOR PRIZE SHALL BE SELECTED FIRST, THEN THE YOUTH PRIZE

Other prizes will be chosen in the following order: Hangers Prize, followed by Gallery One Chair’s Choice.

All prize winning works are non-acquisitive. Entries for the Gallery One Smallacombe Self Portrait prize 2026 closes strictly at 4pm (South Australia time) on 30 June 2026

ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE ONLY

and must include:

  • completed Entry form
  • an image of the artwork in JPEG format, max size 2 MB
  • a non-refundable $40 entry fee.

Only entries which satisfy all 3 conditions above, strictly by 4pm (South Australia time) on 30 June 2026, will be accepted.

SELECTION PROCESS

The judging panel will select Finalists from all the submitted and eligible entries.

Finalists will be chosen based on the images submitted by the entrants/artists. The selected Finalists’ artworks will be showcased at the Gallery One Smallacombe Self Portrait Prize 2026 Finalists Exhibition at Gallery One from 28 August-23 September 2026. The Prizes’ Winners will be determined by the same panel of judges, who will assess the actual exhibited Finalists’ artworks in the gallery.
