"Movement en plaen air"
Curator Gerard Mignot contemplates:
“Painting en plein air allowed artists to capture the emotional and sensory dimensions of a particular landscape at a particular moment in time. It thus expressed a new spirit of spontaneity and truth to personal impulse within art. All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment important, vital, and worth living.
Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.”
As Claude Monet said: “Try to forget what objects you have before you – a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, ‘Here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,’ and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact colour and shape, until it gives you your own impression of the scene before you. ”
